Location: Steamship 'the ss Rotterdam', Rotterdam, the Netherlands
Description:
2nd European Congress on Preconception Care and Health
October 4 – 5, 2012 Rotterdam, The Netherlands
Preconception care is generally considered to be a promising approach to optimize the health of both the future child and the mother through primary intervention. Preconception care entails risk assessment, health promotion, counselling, and intervention. Health promotion consists of informing and educating couples on a variety of health-promotion issues and measures, including periconceptional folic acid supplementation and risks related to lifestyle including the use of alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, and the importance of proper nutrition. During this congress, the available evidence regarding several proposed components of preconception care will be discussed as well as different approaches to improve preconception health.
Following the first European Congress on Preconception Care and Health organized in 2009 by ONE (Birth and Childhood Office in Belgium), the second congress is organized by Erasmus MC, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. We chose an inspiring venue location, the ss Rotterdam. A steamship that made her first overseas voyage in 1959, which has been completely restored and now serves partly as a conference venue and hotel.
We do encourage you to join us in this inspiring environment and exciting programme. For more information please visit our website.
