Despite the increasing popularity of MR research and the rapidly growing MR community, we aim to maintain the character of the meeting, as a platform for informal exchange between young and established researchers in this broad and extremely interesting field, which also means that there has to be an upper limit for its size.
Given the many facets of Fragile X syndrome and other FMR1-related conditions and the exciting therapeutic prospects, this disorder will remain one of the central topics of the upcoming workshop. Other important topics will include X-linked and autosomal forms MR, where significant progress can be expected within the next 12 months, animal models, functional studies, diagnosis, prevention and therapeutic options. Several of these aspects will be addressed by keynote speakers.
